19-year-old visitor drowns in Bataan

MARIVELES, Bataan — A 19-year old visitor from Cagayan de Oro City was swept by strong river currents here and drowned on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 14).

Rubi Vacalares Jr. was on vacation with relatives, and had braved the swollen river in Barangay (village) Sisiman here, said Supt. Crizalde Conde, Mariveles police chief.

Local residents tried but failed to rescue Vacalares, the police said. SFM
