The state weather bureau on Friday afternoon said monsoon rains triggered by a low pressure area would persist over Luzon and Western Visayas.
In its 5 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was located at 205 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes, as of 4 p.m.
Pagasa said monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides would be experienced over the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Mindoro, Palawan, Cavite and Batangas, while cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms would prevail over Metro Manila, Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon.
Pagasa said the rest of the country would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest would prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters would be moderate to rough, it added.
Several government units on Friday suspended classes due to monsoon rains, while the Metro Manila Development Authority advised motorists and commuters against flooding in several parts of the metropolis. YG
