DAVAO CITY – A barangay (village) chairman, who was reportedly on the police watchlist for allegedly being a drug user, showed up at the city police office on Thursday and requested to be drug tested.
Barangay Talomo chairman Artemio Jimenez said he wanted to clear his name.
Senior Supt. Michael John Dubria, the city police chief, said he was surprised when Jimenez came to him but still granted his request.
Personnel from the regional police’s crime laboratory has been tasked to do the test and take the official’s urine sample for testing.
Jimenez said he has been in the forefront of the war against drugs in his village of 180,000 people and was disturbed when he learned that his name was put on the list of drug users and pushers in the city.
Dubria said Jimenez was not on the list of suspected drug pushers and users in the city. He added no government official was put on drug watch. SFM
