Did you know: 129th Foundation Day

Today, Aug. 12, is the 129th Foundation Day of the National Library of the Philippines.

On Aug. 12, 1887, Royal Order No. 689 established in Manila the Royal Museo-Biblioteca de Filipina, the predecessor of the present National Library.


It was named Bureau of Public Libraries in 1947 and renamed The National Library in 1964. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
