Cop slain by hitmen was on fellow cops’ radar

A policeman being monitored by fellow officers  for alleged drug-related activities was killed by unidentified gunmen in Pasig City on Tuesday night.

PO2 Miguel Turaray, 49, was standing in front of a store near his house at the corner of San Roque and Alvis Streets, Barangay San Roque, when repeatedly shot in an attack staged by four men on two motorbikes.

Turaray last reported to a holding unit in Camp Crame after serving under the Marikina police.

The Pasig police chief, Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., said the killing may be “drug-related” as Turaray was earlier monitored by Yebra’s antinarcotics team.

PO2 Rusthom Valdez, the officer on the case, said he was validating reports linking the slain officer to a drug pusher known only as “Mac-Mac.”

Turaray faced a 2013 case in the Pasig courts for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the election gun ban, and a 2008 case arising from a drug session.

On July 21, a dismissed  policeman, SPO1 Rolando Baltazar, was shot dead also in Pasig by men on motorbikes.
