Moderate, mild quakes felt in Davao Occidental, Surigao City
DAVAO CITY -A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck at sea off Barangay Kalbay in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, around 12:06 p.m. Wednesday but no damage to property was reported.
The United States Geological Service said the quake had a depth of 133.5 kilometers and was recorded 32 kilometers east southeast of Kalbay.
Earlier in the day, a tremor also struck Surigao City, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the 9:26 a.m. Surigao quake was recorded at magnitude 2.4 and was felt at Intensity III in Surigao City. Intensity III means only people indoors would sense the shaking, which would be hardly felt outside. SFM
