AN Army reservist who allegedly assaulted and pointed a gun at his nephew in Tondo last Sunday is currently facing investigation.
A CCTV footage of Sergeant Rodrigo Balza, who was wearing his uniform at the time of the incident, punched and pointed a gun at his nephew after an argument. He is a member of the 1304th Community Defense Center at Del Pan in Tondo, Manila.
Brig. Gen. Joshua Santiago of the National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command said on Wednesday that Balza had already surrendered to them around noon.
“Ngayon lang siya nagpakita, so i-present pa namin sa local police para maipaliwanag din niya yung sarili kung bakit ganun ang conduct niya,” he said.
He said they would turn over Balza to the police to show that they do not tolerate such violent acts.
Santiago said that Balza would be likely be dropped from the rolls as an Army reservist.
“Sa amin tinatanggal lang sa hanay ito. He will not be authorized to wear the uniform anymore. Oras na matanggal siya hindi na sya pwede mag uniform….Iipunin lang namin ang report. Nakita naman natin na may solid evidence against him, so bibigyan natin agad ng disposition …,” Santiago said.
A former Army reservist was also caught in a controversy last month, after killing a cyclist in Quiapo following an altercation.
