Duterte wants ‘convergence’ of Moro rebs

DAVAO CITY―President Rodrigo Duterte wants a “convergence” of interests of all Bangsamoro fronts and other stakeholders in preparation for the crafting of an enabling law for the establishment of an autonomous governance, Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza said Tuesday.

Dureza said in line with Duterte’s order, he had been meeting groups  representing the various factions, including the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and it’s offshoot, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“The meeting today was actually with the MNLF headed by Muslimin Sema. I met with Hadji Murad [Ebrahim of the  MILF] two weeks ago in Darapanan,” he said, adding that those he had met with had signified their intention toward convergence, or the possibility of aligning their interests and goals.

Sema heads one MNLF faction, while two other groups are headed by Nur Misuari and Abul Khayr Alonto.

Dureza said he had yet to meet with Misuari, who remains in hiding due to several warrants for his arrests. Allan Nawal, Inquirer Mindanao
