Policemen on the drug list of President Rodrigo Duterte got a verbal beating from Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” De la Rosa when they surrendered to their commanders on Monday morning.
Some 30 policemen of different ranks, including police officials, could hardly look the fuming mad De la Rosa in the eye as he lashed out at the cops for bringing shame to the PNP for their involvement in drugs.
“I have only one and a half years (in service). Kapag civilian na ako, pwede niyo na ako ambush-in. I’m ready. Basta hangga’t ako ang chief, PNP, hindi ako papayag na p***** i** mamayagpag ang droga dito (Once I become a civilian, you may have me ambushed. As long as I’m the PNP chief, I won’t allow that s** of a b**** drugs to proliferate here)!” De la Rosa said.
“Pulis tayo, p***** i**, nandito tayo para mag-serbisyo pero nangongolekta kayo ng pera mula sa droga. Kayo pa mismo mga tauhan ko magbibigay ng problema, ha (We are policemen, s** of a b****, we are here to serve but you collect money from illegal drugs. You are my personnel yet you would cause problems.)?”
In his profanity-laden message to his men, De la Rosa warned the policemen that he would not hesitate to kill them if they would not cut their ties with drug lords and dealers.
“Are you happy with what’s happening? Diyos ko, hindi ako mangingimi patayin ko kayo kung after this, bumalik pa kayo makialam kayo sa droga (My God, I won’t hesitate to kill you if after this, you will go back to illegal drug trade)!”
“I am willing to lose everything. Kahit mamatay ako, kung gusto niyo akong ambush-in, hanapin niyo ako. Patayin niyo ako. Linisin ko itong PNP p***** i** tayo ang taga pag solve ng problema sa droga, tayo nagdagdag sa problem sa droga (Even if I die, if you want me ambushed, find me. Kill me. I will clean PNP, s** of a b****, we should solve the drug problem yet we add more woes)? Goddamnit! Diyos ko, maawa kayo (My God, have mercy),” he said.

Tough love
But despite the harsh words, De la Rosa explained to the policemen that he was furious because he wants “to teach his children” a lesson just like any other father.
He said is willing to give them another chance to do better on their duty as law enforcers.
“Wag natin ibaba ang ating sarili (Let us not lower ourselves). Let’s bring pride to this uniform we wear. Mahalin natin ito. ‘Wag tayo magpasilaw sa pera (Let us love this and not be blinded by money)!”
Bato then asked the cops if they are mad at him, they quietly replied: “No, sir.”
This time calmer, he answered: “Ako, hindi na ako galit. As your father, gusto ko mapaayos kayo. Hindi ko kayo papakain sa buwaya (I’m not mad anymore. As your father, I want you to be in a better position. I will not feed you to crocodiles).”
On the other hand, 27 mayors and judges also showed up at Camp Crame to clear their names./rga
