ON AUG. 8, 1901, the Philippine Constabulary, the predecessor of the Philippine National Police, was established as the local police force. By virtue of Republic Act No. 6975 signed on Dec. 13, 1990, the PNP was placed under the care of the reorganized Department of the Interior and Local Government. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
