SAN PEDRO CITY — Police arrested eight suspected members of an illegal drugs gang and recovered at least P3.7 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) during an anti-drug operation in Calamba City in Laguna, on Saturday, police said on Sunday.
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, information officer of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police, said policemen recovered a total of two kilograms of shabu after they served 21 search warrants in a community in Barangay Looc from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Gaoiran said policemen arrested Mataas Darang, Jabbar Basman, Pantastico Paner, Erick Torres, Robert Cerdeno, Omerah Baute, Lazaro Laganzo and Haji Mamaete during the operation.
In a telephone interview on Sunday, Senior Supt. Joel Pernito, Laguna police director, said the operation was a result of months-long monitoring of illegal drug activities in the village.
Pernito said the suspects were part of a group supplying illegal drugs in Calabarzon provinces. SFM
