DAVAO CITY—Unidentified armed men waylaid and killed the alleged leader of a Davao del Norte-based illegal drug syndicate in Panabo City on Saturday.

Chief Insp. Andrea de la Cerna, spokesperson of the Southern Mindanao police, said Rogelio Palapar Bucao was driving his Montero sport utility vehicle along the national highway in Barangay Gredu when he was attacked around 2 p.m.

Dela Cerna said Bucao was “allegedly known as a big-time drug distributor in Tagum City and leader of the Bucao drug group operating in Davao del Norte.”

He was the 9th “priority target of the Tagum City police,” she said.
