Olongapo cops kill drug suspect
OLONGAPO CITY—A suspected drug peddler was killed here on Friday (Aug. 5) after he reportedly tried to engage police authorities in a gunfight, police said.
Acting on information that Eduardo Gonzales, 47, was seen selling shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) at a street corner in Barangay (village) Barretto, the police approached the suspect at 9 p.m. prompting Gonzales to fire at them, said PO2 Ernest John Almares, investigator at police station 6, in a report.
The policemen fired back killing Gonzales on the spot. He is the seventh fatality in the police’s anti-illegal drugs operations in the city since July 1.
