Probe ordered on Gulf Air emergency landing

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has launched an investigation into the incident that forced a Bahrain-bound Gulf Air plane to return and make an emergency landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on Friday afternoon.

Based on initial reports from the Manila International Airport Authority, Gulf Air flight GF155 was already airborne for five minutes when a call for an emergency landing was made as cockpit indicators detected high temperature in the plane’s left gas turbine engine.

The Airbus A330 plane, carrying 207 passengers and 12 crew members, took off at 1:05 p.m. and landed safely at Naia about 28 minutes later.
