Mild quake nudges Albay

TABACO CITY, Albay – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 3.6 earthquake and imperceptible aftershocks in Albay before noon Thursday.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and was felt at Intensity III in Tabaco City and Sto. Domingo, and Intensity I in Legazpi City at 11 a.m.

On Phivolcs Earthquake Bulletin, the tremors’ epicenter was in Tabaco City.

In a phone interview, Alex Baloloy, Phivolcs science research analyst, said that no injury or damage to property was reported.

“The earthquake was just weak. It was only felt near the epicenter. There is nothing to be worried about,” Baloloy said.

Intensity III means people indoors feel the shaking and may see some objects swing or shake but people outside hardly feel it or do not feel it at all.  SFM
