NAGA COP SHOT
A POLICEMAN was shot yesterday in both knees after entering a known drug den in Naga City, Cebu.
PO2 Antonio Ecalina of Tudela police station was found crawling on his belly near the highway of sitio Mohon.
Before he fell unconscious, Ecalina said five men had blocked his way, took his gun and shot his legs.
It was not clear what the officer was doing in the area.
Sr. Insp. Rolando Yvalle, officer in charge of Naga City police, said he received a report that a botched drug transaction had ended with Ecalina being shot and that the policeman was able to crawl away.
Yvalle said police are looking into a report that Ecalina was part of the drug transaction and that he was shot over a misunderstanding.

TEJERO RAID
POLICE arrested an alleged drug pusher, his aide and four male sexy dancers in a raid in barangay Tejero yesterday dawn.
Harold Dequitos, 25, was arrested by police as he was trying to escape arrest in Villagonzalo II around 4:45 a.m.
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO)’s City Intelligence Branch (CIB) head Chief Insp. Romeo Santander said Dequitos was under surveillance since early this month after barangay officials complained of his illegal drug activities and indiscriminate firing in the area.
With a search warrant issued by RTC Branch 17 Judge Silvestre Maamo Jr., Santander said police had to climb roofs to reach the drug den undetected since it had a security camera.
Dequitos and his aide Joel Tabay Torcino, 25, were apprehended as they were about to escape through a small exit in the comfort room, Santander said.
Police also arrested four male dancers who were sniffing shabu in one of the rooms of the place. They are Armando Braga, 20; Dave Ryan Cabansag, 25; Mark Anthony Kiamco, 28; and Joseph Pielago, 24.
Police said they recovered three big packs of shabu worth around P100,000, drug paraphernalia, six different guns, ammunition and P1,000 cash.

JOAVAN: STOP INTRIGUES
JOAVAN Fernandez, the adopted son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, yesterday appealed to his detractors to stop making “intrigues” and accusing him of misdeeds.
Joavan, 27, was apprehended on the road by Cebu City police on suspicion of carrying a gun on Friday but no weapon was found and no complainant came forward.
His Big Horn vehicle was released after he paid a P2,000 fine.
Fernandez was cited for failure to bring motor registration papers for the vehicle and and a special permit for using a vanity license plate with the word “MAYOR”./CORRESPONDENT CHITO ARAGON
