CEBU CITY — A former policeman who was dismissed from the service over his alleged involvement in illegal drugs was killed in a shootout with police operatives in Barangay Inayagan, City of Naga, south Cebu late afternoonWednesday.
His wife, also a police officer and suspected to be involved in drug pushing, was arrested immediately after the shootout.
PO1 Dave Agcol allegedly refused to surrender and instead fired at the members of the Regional Special Operations Group and the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (RSOG-RAIDSOTF).
“We don’t have a choice but to shoot him because he first fired shots at us using two .45 caliber pistols,” said SPO1 Reynaldo Solante of the RSOG-RAIDSOTF.
Agcol suffered at least three gunshot wounds in the chest.
He was rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital but physicians declared him dead on arrival.
Agcol’s wife, PO2 Ma. Genevieve Agcol, arrived at their residence after the shootout and was immediately arrested by the police.
Solante said they have been monitoring the couple who was peddling illegal drugs in their place. SFM
