CEBU CITY—A woman in her mid-60s is the country’s new multimillionaire.
She won the P272 million in lotto jackpot prize of the Philippine Charity and Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Glen Jesus Rada, manager of the Cebu branch of PCSO in Cebu City, told the Inquirer that the woman was accompanied by her grandson when she went to the PCSO office located along the S. Osmeña Road in North Reclamation Area to verify if the ticket she was holding indeed contained the winning lotto combination.
Rada said the woman was instructed to proceed to their office in Manila and bring her two valid identification cards to claim her prize.
He declined to give additional details on the winner for security reasons.
But she won a total jackpot prize of P272,868,832 for getting the correct 6/55 Grand Lotto combination—13-35-24-09-06-53—last July 30.
The 6/55 Grand Lotto is drawn every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
According to Rada, the woman bought her ticket at their outlet inside Ayala Center Cebu.
The woman, he added, may claim her check after two days.
The lotto winner was the first this year in Cebu.
The last time someone won in Cebu was in 2014, a resident of Barangay Talamban in Cebu City.
He won the 6/55 Grand Lotto jackpot prize of P294.6 million.
