Bato warns mayor’s son: Your life is in danger

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa has warned the son of Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. of Albuera, Leyte, that he will be killed if he will not surrender for his alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

According to De la Rosa, Espinosa has confessed that his son Kerwin is into the drug trade and has ties with drug lord Peter Co, who is detained at the New Bilibid Prisons.

“Kung nakikinig ngayon si Kerwin, your father has already surrendered. You should follow your father,” De la Rosa said at a press conference in Camp Crame on Tuesday afternoon.

“Kapag hindi ka su-surrender, mapapatay ka talaga. Mapapatay ka talaga kung hindi ka su-surrender,” he said. “Your life is really in danger.”

De la Rosa said Kerwin had undergone plastic surgery so he would not be recognized by authorities.

Speaking to reporters, Espinosa said he did not have an idea where his son was.

Asked when was the last time he spoke to Kerwin, the mayor said “last May 7 pa.”

De la Rosa said he had informed President Rodrigo Duterte of Espinosa’s surrender but the President was “hesitant at first to accept him” because he also wanted Kerwin to turn himself in./rga
