THE Senate has divided one of its standing committees into two, which brought the total number of committees to 40.
No senator objected when a resolution, dividing the Senate committee on games, amusement and sports into two — games and amusements, and sports — was presented on the floor and put into a vote.
Senator Panfilo Lacson was elected chair of the committee on games and amusements while Senator Manny Pacquiao got the chairmanship of the sports committee.
The chamber also elected the following heads of other standing committees:
-Senator Richard Gordon, chair of the committee on government corporations and public enterprises
-Senator Bam Aquino, chair of the committee on science and technology
-Senator Loren Legarda, chair of the committee on climate change
-Senator Francis Escudero, chair of committee on banks, financial institutions, and currencies
-Senator Joel Villanueva, chair of the committee on youth
-Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, chair of the Senate committee on economic affairs
-Senator Leila de Lima, chair of the committee on electoral reforms and people’s participation
-Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, chair of the committee on cooperatives
-Senator Sonny Angara , chair of the committee on local government
Senator Grace Poe, on the other hand, has retained her chairmanship of the Senate committee on public information and mass media.
The chamber earlier constituted and elected the chairmanships of 21 committees.
