‘Carina’ no longer affecting PH — Pagasa

Storm signals were lowered as severe tropical storm Carina (Nida) continued to move away from the country, the state weather bureau said midday Monday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that the storm was no longer directly affecting the country.

Carina left the Philippine area of responsibility as of 8 a.m.

The storm will continue to bring moderate to heavy rain within its 500-km diameter and fishermen were alerted against rough to very rough seas over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon and the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring moderate to heavy rain in Mimaropa, the rest of Northern Luzon, the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.

Carina was last tracked 330 kilometers northwest of Laoag City, with maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 135 kph. It moved with a speed of 24 kph west northwest./rga
