A low pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility has intensified intro a tropical depression midday Friday, the state weather bureau said.
“Carina” is the third tropical cyclone in the Philippines this year.
The tropical depression was last observed 195 kilometers east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar and will bring moderate to heavy rains within its 300-kilometer diameter, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Carina, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, will bring moderate to heavy rains over the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and Caraga which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa said.
It is forecast to move 11 kph northwest. The following are the forecast tracks of Carina.
