CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Two gunmen of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were killed while three soldiers were injured in a series of firefights in Shariff Saidona town in Maguindanao on Tuesday, the Army reported.
The hostilities erupted when BIFF members ambushed a group of soldiers patrolling in Barangay Pamalian in Shariff Saidona around 5 a.m., Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay, the military spokesperson said. Petinglay said the ambush triggered sporadic clashes that lasted until about noontimeTuesday.
The wounded soldiers were being treated at a military hospital while the bodies of the slain BIFF members were taken by village officials, who will turn them over to their immediate families, she said. CDG/rga
