Police on alert after 3 cops, 1 PNP employee seized in Caraga

The Police Regional Office 13 is on full alert status following the abduction of three police and a non-uniformed personnel (NUP) Sunday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Santiago B. Lamanilao, PO3 Jayroll H. Bagayas, PO2 Calab C. Sinaca and NUP Rodrigo T. Angob.

Based on an operation report, the four were abducted 2:15 pm. Sunday by around 10 armed men wearing military uniform believed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA). Witnesses said the victims’ hands were tied and they were taken to a mountainous area.

“All line units of this PRO were placed on full alert status and directed to be extra vigilant and implement Target Hardening Security measures to pre-empt NPA’s hostile plans and other threat groups-related violent activities,” Senior Inspector Charity Galvez, of the CARAGA Public Information Office said in a statement.

She said the PNP is already working closely with the military in searching for and rescuing the victims.

The police also called on the NPA members to lay down their arms and abandon their armed struggle.
