Amid the craze of Pokémon Go with children going out of their homes and exercising for a change, many children in Syria are more concerned about whether they’ll survive the war in their country.

Images of children holding Pokémon characters have been circulating and gaining attention on the internet. These are children from war-torn Syria where a civil war has been raging since 2011. Underneath the Pokémon characters are appeals for help such as: “I am here, come save me,” The Independent reported.
The photos are being posted by the Revolutionary Forces of Syria Media Office to raise awareness of the plight of the children in Syria, many of whom have perished as the war continues to rage. The group is a media outlet for voicing the messages of Syrians who are against the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Sympathetic individuals have left comments on the group’s Facebook posts including prayers for the children.
The RFS spokesperson added: “Syrian children are victims of the war and the brutal and indiscriminate attacks that are carried out on a daily basis by regime and Russian jets. The Syrian children are paying the price for the international inaction to stop the Assad killing machine.” Alfred Bayle
