DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Mayor Sara Duterte on Friday said she was not resigning as city chief executive contrary to rumors circulating here since she filed a leave of absence on July 1.
Duterte said she opted not to comment earlier on posts on social media about her supposed resignation “because I enjoyed the comments of both haters and supporters.”

The mayor said she will start working on Saturday “because we chief executives should work 24/7.”
However, she said last Monday that she would be out of office again to attend the first State of The Nation Address (Sona) of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.
“All expenses are paid for so I’m going,” she said in jest.
But Inday Sara, as she is more known here, said she was not sure if her siblings, Vice Mayor Paolo and Sebastian, were also attending their father’s Sona. RAM/rga
