‘Big-time Chinese drug lord’ shot dead by police in Valenzuela City

MANILA–A Chinese suspected to be a drug lord was shot dead by operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Anti Illegal Drugs Group Friday morning in Valenzuela City.

The PNP AIDG said Meco Tan was a big-time drug lord and shabu laboratory operator.

Police said they were about to serve a warrant of arrest on Tan at his house in a Valenzuela subdivision when he attempted to escape aboard his Honda Civic.Police gave chase and shots were fired, ending in the death of Tan.

Police said they found a backpack loaded with packs of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) inside Tan’s car.

PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa went to the scene of police operations.

According to the police, Tan had been operating a shabu laboratory in Naic, Cavite and another on Scout Chuatico Street in Quezon City.
