A woman was shot dead inside a passenger jeepney by a man who had just alighted from the same vehicle on Thursday morning in Makati City.
Lauran Kristel Rosales, 26, a resident of Sta. Ana, Manila, was shot twice in the back around 7 a.m. as the Del Pan-Guadalupe jeepney reached the corner of Nicanor Garcia Street and JP Rizal Avenue.
Insp. Oliver Benaldo of Makati police’s Poblacion precinct, one of the first officers to reach the crime scene, said the assailant, after stepping out of the jeepney, walked to the side where Rosales was seated and shot her at close range.
The shooter, who was wearing a gray collared shirt, white cap, and khaki pants, left his .38-caliber Super pistol at the scene and was last seen walking towards Buendia, Benaldo said. Another passenger, Angelica Suazo, 13, was grazed by a bullet on her lower left leg.
Benaldo said robbery may be an unlikely motive since Rosales’ belongings—including a bag full of clothes—were untouched. Annelle Tayao-Juego
