The National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces have been warned of heavy rains and possible floods as thunderstorms hit early Thursday evening.
In an advisory at 6:32 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said thunderstorm was affecting Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bulacan (San Jose del Monte), Rizal (San Mateo, Antipolo, Taytay, Cainta), Batangas (Agoncillo, Calaca), Cavite (Maragondon, Ternate, Naic), Zambales (Palauig, Masinloc), and Nueva Ecija.
Pagasa said this may continue for two hours.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flash floods,” Pagasa said.
A ridge of a high pressure area is extended across Luzon.
“Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the entire archipelago,” Pagasa said.
