Overwhelming support for Duterte an ‘inspiration’ to bring change—Palace

The “overwhelming support” of Filipinos for President Rodrigo Duterte will serve as an inspiration to the government to bring genuine change to the people.

“This expression of confidence, therefore, shall serve as an inspiration to Duterte administration to continuously make a real difference to make our people’s lives better, safer, and healthier,” Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement on Wednesday.

The results of the July 2 to 8 Pulse Asia Survey showed that 91 percent of Filipinos trust the President.

The Palace thanked Filipinos for their support for the leadership of Duterte.

“We thank the Filipino people for their overwhelming support [for] the governance of President Rodrigo Duterte,” Andanar said.

“This record-high trust rating of 91%, as reflected in the July 2-8 Pulse Asia survey, is a humbling reminder that the genuine and meaningful change that our people aspire for is now being felt,” he added.

The Palace official vowed that the Duterte administration would bring Filipinos to where they ought to be.

“A position of leadership is often a lonely one.  However, a servant leader, as they say, has to take people where they don’t want to go, but ought to be,” he said. RAM
