Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo is trusted by a “sizable majority” of Filipinos, pollster Pulse Asia said in its latest survey.

The results of the July 2 to 8 survey released on Wednesday showed that 62 percent trust Robredo, 11 percent distrust her, while 27 percent were ambivalent.

“Most Filipinos – regardless of geographic location and socio-economic status – say they trust Vice-President Robredo (58 percent to 72 percent and 53 percent to 64 percent, respectively),” Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes said.

Robredo, a former representative of Camarines Sur in the Bicol region, posted her highest trust rating in the Visayas (72 percent), followed by the National Capital Region (65 percent), Mindanao (61 percent), and Luzon (58 percent).

Across socioeconomic classes, the vice president posted the highest rating from respondents belonging to Class D (64 percent), followed by those from Class E (61 percent) and Class ABC (53 percent).

Robredo, who ran under the erstwhile ruling Liberal Party, won the vice presidency in a hotly-contested race against former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

She was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as his housing czar.

Meanwhile, the same poll showed that the public’s sentiment toward Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is dominated by indecision.

“Trust in the latter is more manifest than distrust (35 percent versus 19 percent). Big plurality indecision figures are posted by the Supreme Court Chief Justice in the Visayas (43 percent) and Class E (46 percent),” Holmes said.

The poll showed Duterte getting a record-high 91 percent trust rating, beating the record of former President Benigno Aquino III.
