MANILA, Philippines — Authorities rescued a 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped Wednesday, police said Thursday.
Superintendent Martin Gamba of Caraga police said that Butuan City police rescued the teenager hours after she was abducted at the Emily Homes Subdivision in Libertad Village, Butuan City.
He said that the still unidentified suspects broke into the home of the girl’s family before dawn and demanded P20,000 at gunpoint.
When the family refused to give the suspects money, they snatched the girl, he said.
Authorities rescued the victim at the Chinese Cemetery in Bancasi village, Butuan City but the suspects were able to escape, said Gamba.
He added that Butuan police have flashed an alarm for the arrest of the suspects.
