TWO WOMEN who have shown exceptional leadership from within will speak on the subject at the forthcoming program, “Inner Strength in Times of Conflict and Disaster,” organized by Brahma Kumaris Philippines on July 20, 2:30 to 5 p.m., at SM Aura Premier, Bonifacio Global City. The program is free.

Vice President Leni Robredo during the election campaign was often quoted as saying that fortitude wells from the heart—instinctively—when a woman is challenged by tragedy that threatens her family or her country.

“I have always opted to take action,” she said, “not to assert power but to be an example, to be of service.”

Jayanti Kirpalani, director for Brahma Kumaris centers in Europe and the Middle East, believes in the urgency of owning responsibility for everything in one’s immediate environment.

“It is a tall order,” she has stressed in lectures. “Why indeed should I feel responsible for global warming? But acceptance leads to the realization that, if I had a hand in the past, by my hand will the future likewise be created.”

Kirpalani is NGO representative to the United Nations in Geneva and leader of the BK delegation to the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Robredo came from far behind to win the vice presidency after people sensed her simplicity, integrity and dedication to service.
