Drug suspect killed in Ormoc City shootout
ORMOC CITY, Philippines—A drug suspect here was killed in an alleged shootout with operatives of the City Anti-illegal Drugs Special Task Force (Caidsotf) during a buy-bust operation in a lodging house along Rizal Street in Ormoc City, Leyte past 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Senior Supt. Ramil Ramirez, Ormoc police director, said Boien Chiong, 37, was on the watch list of drug personalities in the city.
SPO2 Kenneth Valley, Caidsotf operative, said they formed a team to conduct a buy-bust operation when they learned Chiong was in the pension house.
An operative then went undercover and posed as a buyer. The transaction took place inside room 205 of the lodging house past 8 p.m.
But Chiong noticed the presence of policemen, drew a gun and fired at the operatives.
The police officers returned fire hitting the suspect in different parts of his body, killing him on the spot.
