Dismissed cop on police watch list killed in buy-bust
SOGOD, Southern Leyte–A dismissed police officer was killed while two policemen were wounded during a shootout inside the former’s house located at the back of municipal hall in Barangay (village) Zone 1, in this town, about 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The fatality was identified as PO1 Emmanuel F. Salon who was last assigned in Catbalogan City, Samar.
Senior Insp. Richard Castañares, deputy chief of police of Sogod, said PO2 Antonio Dador Jr. went undercover and bought shabu (methamphetamine) from Salon during a buy-bust operation.
When he noticed that Dador was a policeman, Salon shot Dador, who was hit in the leg.
Other policemen, who were monitoring the transaction, immediately fired at Salon who managed to run inside his house and was cornered in the toilet.
He shot at the police officers – two of whom were hit. They were Senior Insp. J-Rale O. Paalisbo and PO2 Jerome G. Mendoza who were hit in their right hands.

Recovered from the crime scene were four sachets of suspected shabu, P2,400 in cash, 3 payslips of police, one Smith and Wesson revolver and 9mm pistol Taurus and 24 pieces of empty shells, five bullet fragments and 3 pieces of slugs./rga
