Man killed, 8 others hurt in Albay road mishap
LEGAZPI CITY — A man was killed while eight others were injured in a vehicular accident in Daraga town in Albay Wednesday, the police said.
Marvin Dado, 48, a resident of Barangay (village) Oro Site, Legazpi City, died while being transported to a hospital after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a van driven by a still unidentified person along the stretch of Maharlika Highway in Barangay Salvacion in Daraga town at 7:30 a.m., Senior Police Officer 3 Vicente Naira, investigation chief, said. The wounded were brought to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Naira said initial investigation indicated that the van driver could have lost control of the steering wheel when it collided with the motorcycle, then hit a jeepney driven by Johnson Montenegro, 50, resident of Caloocan City. It also sideswiped a tanker driven by Roger Tandaan, 31, of Pili, Camarines Sur. The vehicles that were hit were bound for Daraga town while the van was moving towards the opposite direction.
The unidentified driver and his conductor immediately fled the area and are now subjects of a police manhunt. SFM
