Palace vows improved Metro Manila traffic in 100 days

Expect an improved traffic condition in Metro Manila within the next 100 days.

This was what presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said on Tuesday after Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade presented a “menu of changes” during the second Cabinet meeting at Malacañang on Monday.

“I’m sure within the next 100 days, we’re going to see results. Already there seems to be some, right?” Abella told reporters in a press briefing.

During the Cabinet meeting, Abella said Tugade made a presentation on his plans to address traffic in the metropolis.

“Secretary Tugade made a presentation yesterday and already they have a menu of changes which could very positively impact the rate of traffic flow soon, very soon,” he said.

He said among the proposals of Tugade included alternative locations for purchasing of train tickets, and “nicer and better waiting rooms” for commuters.

Abella, however, did not elaborate on the proposals for better waiting rooms.

Tugade earlier said the government would have to ask Congress to give Duterte emergency powers to solve traffic gridlock in Metro Manila./rga
