Brothers linked to drug trade surrender in Cebu

CEBU CITY — Three brothers identified as major drug dealers in Lapu-Lapu City surrendered to the police in the city’s Barangay Marigondon on Saturday afternoon.

Rolando “Landie” Oyao and his brothers, Paquibot and Donie, were persuaded by their brother, former Agus barangay chairman Remegio Oyao, to turn themselves in after “Oplan TokHang” was conducted by police.

Remegio said his brothers had not been peddling illegal drugs for more than a year after serving their sentence.

He recalled that he himself was once accused of peddling illegal drugs but it was due to business rivalry. “I am not into illegal drugs because I am a legitimate businessman,” he added.

Remegio said he convinced his brothers to clear their names and accompanied them to the police with his cousin, Barangay Agus councilor Jun-Jun Oyao.

Fifteen others from Barangay Agus who were also involved in illegal drugs went to the police to surrender.

Insp. Alcon Escosura, chief of the Marigondon police precinct, said none of the Oyao brothers had pending warrants but police had received reports that they were allegedly still dealing with illegal drugs.

The Oyao brothers were also suspected of being behind the killing of PO3 Antonio Inihao last February although none of the killers was identified. JE/rga
