TAGUM CITY, Philippines—A magnitude-5.2 earthquake struck several parts of Mindanao early Saturday, state seismologists said.
The moderately strong quake which hit around 7:16 a.m. was located 9 kilometers northwest of Talacogon town, in Agusan del Sur and had a a depth of 61 kilometers, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the temblor which was tectonic in origin was felt at Intensity V in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte and in Talacogon;
Intensity IV in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; and Intensity III in Cagayan de Oro City. It was also felt in Tagum City.
The US Geological Survey classifies a quake at Intensity V when it is felt by nearly everyone, with some unstable objects overturned.
There were no reports of damage caused by the quake but Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected.
