DAVAO CITY—Acting Mayor Paolo Duterte has said the “no bag” rule will be strictly implemented during the Kadayawan sa Dabaw celebration next month.
“I would like to ask the public to please cooperate with us, as this is for our security,” Duterte, who earlier said that jihadists were targeting the city, told reporters here.
The “no bag” policy has been in effect during major events here since 2013.
Duterte also said a “no parking” policy would also be implemented in areas where Kadayawan-related events will be held.
“I would like to ask for the understanding of those who will be affected by these policies, including the businessmen and motorists,” he said. “We only want for Dabawenyos to celebrate Kadayawan smoothly.”
Duterte has been acting mayor since July 1 as his sister, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, took a leave of absence. Her reason for doing so had not been made public.
Duterte-Carpio will be back in office on July 22.
