Former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., under police detention for two years now in connection with the P10-billion pork barrel case, has sought court permission to be allowed to undergo a dental procedure for three days this month.
In a July 1 motion, Revilla—also a movie actor—asked the Sandiganbayan First Division for medical leave of three days’ total in order to get a dental implant at a dental clinic in Makati City.
Earlier, on April 11, Revilla was granted medical leave to visit his dentist for a computed tomography or CT scan of his teeth, on which the court was to base its decision on whether or not to grant his request to undergo the procedure.
“Oral prophylaxis (teeth cleaning) was done, and upon doing the clinical exam, several cavities were noted,” Revilla’s dentist, Dr. Steve Mark Gan said, in a certificate dated April 21.
In the certificate, Revilla was advised to have a tooth that was extracted last year replaced with a dental implant “to prevent future complications.”
The actor-turned-politician, whose Senate term ended on June 30, asked for court permission to undergo the surgical procedure in the afternoons of July 13, 16 and 23.
Gan also detailed the procedures to be done on Revilla, including a panoramic radiograph and composite fillings on his upper frontal teeth.
