It was Sunday Bloody Sunday two days after the Duterte administration came to power.
The Inquirer monitored 19 drug-related killings on July 3, with at least seven suspected drug dealers or pushers killed in Quezon province and another seven killed in Quiapo, Manila.
During the first week of the Duterte administration—from noon of June 30 until noon of July 7—the death toll from the promised war against illegal drugs and crime reached 72—an average of a little more than 10 killings a day.
Sunday’s toll was almost twice the daily average.
To document the killings, the Inquirer Group has launched “Kill List,” a straightforward accounting of the dead, with their names and other particulars and, sometimes, even the estimated time of death.
The list can be accessed online, at https://inq.news/kill-list, and will be updated regularly.
As of noon of July 7, 59 identified and eight unidentified people were on Kill List.

Five of the dead were identified only by their aliases.
Of the total of 72, 43 were killed as part of a police operation, while 29 were found dead after vigilante-style killings.
The 43 suspected criminals killed by police consisted of 25 who died in buy-bust operations, 14 who were killed when the police served search or arrest warrants, and four who were killed in other types of police action.
Since May 9, Election Day, the number of killings involving suspected criminals has reached 119.
