ZAMBOANGA CITY – At least five buildings, including an old gymnasium, of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University here were razed by a fire on Thursday morning.
Dr. Elmeir Apolinario, the city disaster risk reduction and management officer, placed to P5 million the estimated damage caused by the fire.
He said one of his responding personnel, Ronald Basilio, suffered a broken leg when a big piece of wood fell on him.
According to Fire Chief Inspector Clint Cha said investigators and firefighters are still at the site, as of this posting.
“I cannot tell you the cause or extent of damage because our men are still on the ground investigating,” he said on Thursdaymorning.
Destroyed were the gym, the old and new College of Law buildings, part of the grade school building and the cafeteria, Apolinario said. SFM
