Help newborn Christopher, mom go home

AFTER suffering miscarriages in  2011 and 2014, Jacqueline Durana was both anxious and excited when she learned last year that she was once again pregnant.

“I was advised to undergo complete bed rest for the first three months. I had monthly checkups but I experienced bleeding when the baby was only 25 weeks. Things happened so fast and I gave birth prematurely,” said the 33-year-old Durana who got married in 2009.

Since she gave birth on March 4 at the Asia Medic Family Hospital and Medical Center in Dasmariñas City, Cavite province, her baby Christopher Niño Durana has been in an incubator.

“I prayed hard that he would survive. And it is a miracle that based on the results of the ultrasound, his brain is functioning normally,” Durana said of her firstborn. “What I’m worried about is his left eye. There’s a possibility that he may not be able to use it due to optic nerve damage.

Although excited to go home with her baby, Durana said they could not do so just yet as they do not have the means to settle their hospital bill.

“As of June 23, we still have to pay P424,000 after we received P200,000 from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. I am seeking the assistance of your readers because my husband is jobless at the moment,” said the office clerk who lives in Anabu, Imus City.

Jacqueline Durana can be contacted at 0935-8537908. Those who may want to help her and her baby go home can deposit their donations in her BDO account (#007750095648).
