THE MANILA Hotel, which is located in One Rizal Park in Manila, was inaugurated and officially opened on July 4, 1912. During the tenure of Gen. Douglas MacArthur as military advisor to the Commonwealth government, he and his wife and son made the hotel their home. On July 6 to 7, 1986, 5,000 loyalists of former President Ferdinand Marcos and 490 armed military men occupied Manila Hotel in an attempt to overthrow the administration of then President Corazon Aquino.
