12 collared in Naga City anti-drug operation

NAGA CITY, Philippines — Armed with search warrants, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) swooped down on a known drug-plagued community along Naga River on Saturday and arrested 12 persons for violating the anti-illegal drugs law, police said Sunday.

Senior Supt. Marlon Tejada, regional chief of the CIDG-5, said an 80-member composite team comprising representatives from CIDG provincial offices in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Masbate and Catanduanes, including two platoons from the 5th Regional Public Safety Battalion and the National Bureau of Investigation, served the search warrants to suspected drug personalities at about 1 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Peñafrancia of this city.

Tejada said the simultaneous searches yielded 50 pieces of sachets containing suspected “shabu” and resulted in the arrest of 12 people for possession of illegal drugs.

He said the “One Time Big Time (OTBT)” operation took months of preparation and surveillance./rga
