A low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted near Mindanao on Saturday, the state weather bureau said.
In its 4 p.m, advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said an LPA was estimated at 2,160 kilometers east of Mindanao.
A report from Panahon TV, quoting weather forecaster Shelly Ignacio, said the LPA was expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Monday or Tuesday.
Ignacio, however, said there was little chance for the weather disturbance to hit land.
Pagasa said the LPA was still far and changes may stil occur.
As of Saturday afternoon, the weather bureau said an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) was affecting Visayas and Mindanao.
The agency warned of cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol region and Mimaropa.
It added that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms would prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
