President Duterte back in hometown Davao City

DAVAO CITY—He is home.

Rodrigo Duterte is back in his hometown Davao City two days after his inauguration as the country’s 16th Philippine President.

A GMA News report said Duterte arrived via private plane in the city’s old airport along with his common law wife Cielito “Honeylet” Avancena and 12-year-old daughter Veronica.

He was also accorded military honors by the Philippine Air Force upon his arrival.

Duterte came back to Davao City after overseeing the change of command ceremonies of Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Lt Gen. Ricardo Visaya.

He also had a memorable inauguration on Thursday as he conducted his first official Cabinet meeting, hosted a diplomatic reception, and attended a dinner with residents in Tondo.

On Friday, his son Paolo said his father would like to split his work week shuttling between Manila and Davao.

“He will spend three days in Manila and spend three days in Davao City,” the incumbent Davao City vice mayor told reporters here.
