Losing vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will file today (Wednesday) an election protest against Vice President-elect Leni Robredo in the Supreme Court which shall sit as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).
Marcos’ lawyer, George Garcia, on Tuesday said they would present to the PET—which hears election protests in the presidential and vice presidential contests—a 3,000-page protest that was very detailed and comprehensive.
Garcia said their election protest would cover about 40,000 precincts, or nearly half of the 96,000 clustered precincts nationwide.
“We want the election results in some areas annulled and set aside,” he said in a phone interview.
Garcia said they would also seek a judicial recount and revision of ballots.
Asked if they would raise anew the question of the command script change in a transparency server of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPRCV) during the vice presidential vote count, he replied in the affirmative, adding that they would provide a very detailed account of what allegedly transpired.
Marcos had charged that massive cheating and automated fraud favored Robredo following the script change, but this was explained away by poll officials and experts as a cosmetic modification to correct name spellings.
Robredo came away as the winner of the vice presidential race with 14,418,817 votes, 263,473 more than her closest rival Marcos who got 14,155,344 votes.
