IT WAS over in under a day, as Tropical Depression “Ambo” weakened rapidly into a low pressure area (LPA) and was no longer a threat by Monday morning.
The LPA pulled away over the West Philippine Sea after it exited the Luzon land mass before dawn Monday, the weather bureau said on Monday.
In its wake, the LPA will bring light to moderate rain to northern Luzon, while the rest of the country would no longer feel the effects of the overnight cyclone.
“For now it (Ambo) no longer has much effect,” said weather forecaster Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Six provinces— Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Quezon, Aurora and Quirino—were placed under warning signal No. 1.
But Ambo weakened to a low pressure area after it made landfall in Aurora shortly past midnight Sunday. Dona Z. Pazzibugan
